The curtains have risen on another semester at Allegra! Exciting times are ahead for Allegra dancers as the ballet department has been hard at work revising and enhancing their syllabus and preparing for the second staging of the resoundingly successful ‘Excerpts from the Nutcracker’! Our new levels made their entrance last Fall and we are pleased to report that our students have progressed (quite literally!) by leaps and bounds within them.
In December 2010 Allegra we presented our first annual "Excerpts from the Nutcracker”, which boasted excellence in choreography, production and, most notably, performance from our talented students. This year promises to be an even more impressive staging, with more dances and excerpts for the talented Allegra dancers to show their progression. "Excerpts from the Nutcracker” auditions have been set for September 17th, 2011 - so please clear your calendars in anticipation! This year, rehearsals will take place on Friday evenings and Saturdays beginning on October 1st right through until show time! The Ballet Department will keep you informed of any scheduling changes should they arise. Watch this space for more exciting ‘Nutcracker news’ in the weeks to come!

Hip-Hop Dance @ Allegra
Amin Jai will be instructing the Intermediate and Advanced hip-hop classes this fall. His choreographic style fuses urban dance with theater, storytelling, classical technique, and other movement genres.
Amin Jai loves the art and sport of dance, he works intensely to create a fun, challenging, and structured experience for his students. He is consistently thorough, and expects his students to be punctual and prepared for his class.

Amin Jai is the founder and chairman of the non-profit dance company,
Kraven Seneca: Dance Company, and he will officially launch his sound design firm in December 2011.

New Hip Hop Instructor Joins Allegra Staff
Claudia DeVita and Carrie Page are proud to announce that Amin J. Harris will be teaching the Tues and Thurs Hip Hop classes at 5 30 and 6 30. After a very successful Guest Teacher class Amin mentioned the talent and high energy of the Allegra students and how he would love to work with them in the future.
